One year ago today, a lil bow legged girl from Atlanta, GA graced the JAMZ 96.3 airwaves for the first time.
One year ago today, she’d driven 23 hours, and over 1,000 miles to come to an unfamiliar place with no place to call home. One year ago today, she nervously took to the mic, and 15,000 people welcomed her with opened arms.
To Albany, Schenectady, Troy, Clifton Park, Latham, Saratoga Springs, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and all the other surrounding cities of the capital district, I thank you. I thank you for giving me a chance. I thank you for being my home away from home, and I thank you embracing me like I was one of your own.
I came here with nothing. No family, no friends, no home, and since I’ve been here, you have become my family, you have become my friends, and I thank you for opening your hearts to receive all I that I had to offer.
Because of you I pulled record breaking ratings, because of you I reached that number one spot, and it is because you that I’ve been able to achieve everything that people told me I could not do.
As many of you know, climbing towards a dream is not easy. You run into brick walls, you fall off cliffs, there may be times where like me, you leave to comforts of your family, and there are times that you feel lifeless, hopeless and alone, but push through keep going. Only then will you have no choice but to succeed.
So, again Capcity thank you so much for your acceptance of me just the way I am.
