Play Your Position!

Last night I was watching TI and the Family Hustle and something that TI said to his kids really stood out. See they were at space camp and he was trying to teach King to play his position.

Often time we are placed in positions that we simply do not want to be in. You may have tried to out for management and gotten passed over, or you may have been a manager and gotten demoted or replace with someone who is not as skill as you. You may be riding the bench when you know your skill level is far superior than everyone that the coach has out on the field, and you may be able to sing way better than the lead soloist in the choir, but you’re stuck in background. Whatever the case learn to play your position.

One of life’s hardest lessons is knowing that even though you may be the best man for the job, your talent will sometimes fall short and take a back seat to connections and prestige. Be that as it may, you can’t let other people’s inability to see your capabilities tarnish you talent.

Try your best and be the best no matter what the position. Sometimes we’re stuck in these types of positions because there some sort of lesson we need to learn or maturity we need to gain, so take your current back seat as a lesson in disguise. Soak up all the knowledge you can so when it is time for you to be front in center you’re more than capable of getting the job done!
