LaJon’s “Definition Of Lovers Lost”
Now that the “BMI Know Them Now Songwriter of the Year” contest winner’s debut EP, “Definition Of Lovers Lost,” has dropped, the world now knows that Adele is not the only one that can write a thing or two about love and heartbreak.
LaJon’s debut EP is the story of a young man navigating and losing his way on the winding road of love. LaJon has a unique way of meshing acoustic soul, with elements of rock, Motown, and even country to illustrate his story of finding and eventually loosing true love.
“This EP is extremely conceptual,” said LaJon. “It’s a journey. A travel through a young man’s mind as he finds and loses love all while remaining optimistic that he will find love again. This body of work is very real to me because these songs come from real places and experiences and I think that’s what makes for the best music – an emotional attachment.”
To officially kick off the release of LaJon’s debut EP, BMI and ThisIsRnB.com collaborated to present a listening party and concert to present the soul singer’s body of work. The event took place at Atlanta’s Soul Asylum Studios, and was shown live via Ustream on both ThisIsRnB.com and IamLaJon.com.
LaJon gave a stellar performance as him and his band, dYe-versitY, put their special twist on the Plain White T’s “Hey There Delilah,” and Adele’s “Someone Like You.” He also performed a couple of songs from the EP including “Fragile Thing,” and his signature hit, “Try Me.”
The rising star was even gracious enough to shout out and share the stage with fellow musicians who came out to support; R&B musicians like Try Skyy, Siergio, and Mishon crooned the crowd, and added their names to the list of new R&B cats on the block.
