With a mature, soulful sound reminiscent to that of John Legend, and an engaging quality, singer and song writer LaJon is the R&B music’s next big thing. Backed by a live band, LaJon graces Atlanta’s Apache Cafe’s stage with a maturity of a performer well beyond his years. LaJon is a future icon and just like the greats, he was BORN to do this.
A quaint artsy Atlanta night club is filled with an intimate crowd of people hungry for a silky and soulful sound from the stage. With his band in place, he graces the stage. The spotlight shines, illuminating his smile as he scans his crowd of listeners. He adjusts the microphone as it waits to amplify a sound so pure and crisp it is as if he belts it from the pit of his very soul.
He captivates the crowd with his genuine humility and boyish charm as he begins to tell a story of love. He opens with two original songs. The first is entitled Try Me, a mild, mellow piece in which he urges one to try love again. He then sings No Coincidence, a tender ballad about the divine fate of love. Next he performs covers of songs by different artist to in his words, “get you acquainted with his sound.” He covers various R&B, Pop, Rock and even Country songs from artists like Beyonce, Adele, Jesse J, John Legend, Pink, and Edwin McCain. He sings these songs in a way that only he can. Listening you would think he had written, produced, and arranged all these songs himself.
The crowd is entranced as he continues to teach this generation what real R&B sounds like. The music simmers to quietness as the crowd stands to their feet applauding in appreciation proving that his ability to emotionally connect with an audience is second to none. It is as if he has been doing this for a lifetime. Who is he? When all is said, and the last note is sung, he makes sure everyone knows that he is LAJON.
